About me

Hi, my name is Krista, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). I primarily work with individuals who struggle with anxiety, grief, and the long-term effects of sexual trauma. I believe that therapy should provide a non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe and work through their issues at their own pace. My goal is to establish a therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe enough to explore issues that are important to them.

In my counselling practice, I bring a unique perspective as a certified yoga teacher, end-of-life doula, and vipassana meditator. I believe in the importance of restoring a connection with all aspects of the self to facilitate the healing process. I work with clients one-on-one to help them find connection between body, mind, and heart, and to rediscover the inherent wisdom that resides within the body.

Using a combination of the Gottman Method and a body-centered framework, I specialize in working with couples who are dealing with the effects of past sexual trauma within their current relationship. I also work closely with premarital couples who are navigating the complexities of blending families.

Many individuals begin contemplating therapy when they encounter difficulties, and this can sometimes evoke feelings of defeat. However, I believe that choosing to embark on therapy indicates your overall well-being. Seeking therapy demonstrates your acknowledgement that not everything is as it could be, and this acknowledgment serves as a basis for transformation. Seeking therapy signifies the presence of positive attributes within you, rather than highlighting any shortcomings.

I understand that beginning the counselling process can be intimidating. If you are unsure how to start, please reach out to me for a free 15-minute telephone consultation. If I think that I am not the best fit to help you, I will be honest with you and do my best to guide you towards other resources.

While I commit to ongoing efforts to learn more how to work from an anti-oppressive framework, as a white settler there is lived experience I do not hold. If you are eager to work with a BIPOC counsellor, please check out Healing in Colour for a BIPOC therapist directory.
